| the skyline drive to the summit of mt. equinox climbs one of the hightest mountains in southern new england. just south of manchester, vermont, the private toll road climbs to 3,848 feet in 5.2 mile. at the summit, a deserted inn conjurs former granduer and solitude. large panes of glass on the inn reflected the pines, clouds and horizon. a short hike off the drive takes you into thick growth where fern and flower flourish. |
